Please note some food processor models do not include a separate dough blade. For recipes that call for the use of a dough blade, you can use the designated “S” chopping blade instead.

  1. Thank You so much for explaining how to use my brand new Cuisinart food processor.
I now feel more confident how to use it.

  2. Can I assume we are limited to one size thickness of slices?

  3. weeknightingale May 4, 2013 @ 8:23 pm

I just purchased a new Cuisinart Food Processor 14 cup! I purchased an extra thin 2mm slicer from Amazon in addition to the supplied 4mm slicer. You can also purchase a smaller shredder too if you like!

  4. I just bought a used dlc 7 pro w brand new new ised 9 blade dic set but when i try to use them the blade disengages from the blade and the disc is completely off the arm tool. Any idea what may be wrong or am i doung something wrong. ??

I purchased mine from Macy’s.  There was no DVD or dough blade in it. very disappointed in that since I don’t want to be bothered with returning and reordering.

    • +DarylCincy DW’s Southern Cooking  $99 is a real bargain; congratulations. You can order a dough blade here:  http://www.cuisinart.com/parts/food_processors.html

    • DW's Southern Cooking & BBQ August 14, 2015 @ 10:04 pm

+SeikiBrian Got me one, thank you Seiki.

    • +JRosemarie I got mine, the 14-cup classic model, at Home Depot of all places. (Ordered online, and picked up at the store.) It was almost $100 less than the exact same model at Macy’s. Mine doesn’t have the DVD, either; I guess in the age of YouTube they’ve stopped including those. (It would be nice if the YouTube videos were at better than 240 PPI resolution, though.)

    • +JRosemarie Mothering While Single Yes! Got mine from Amazon and they advertised that a dvd would be included.l Sure. As long as you have access to Youtube!

    • +DarylCincy DW’s Southern Cooking I got my basic 10 cup food processor for $99 at walmart years ago and it came with the dough and “S” Blade plus the slice and shred blades. I wasn’t a fancy name brand and now walmart has even better ones for 30 to 40 bucks.

  9. I bought one of these today on sale new for 139.00. Sadly, it didn’t have the dvd or dough blade which is why I purchased this one w/ the 720 watt motor and large bowl  to make bread. I read that to knead dough the motor has to be over 700 watts. So, I ordered the dough blade and a flat cover lid from amazon so I don’t need to use the feeder cover for the dough. The additional cost brought the price back up to the original price but at least I have this how-to, out the box video. Thanks for posting this!

    • +Awakeon Earth I am ticked that I had to purchase another Cuisinart Food Processor after having plastic failure of my good old ’80’s food processor died of shaft degeneration. (Well after I had purchased additonal accessory stems,k additional lexan bowls, additional blades, etc!) The motor ran as strong as ever. So now, the ‘new kid’ doesn’t even come with the advertised dvd (but at least I can find it here). With all the replacement extras I’ve purchased this is definitely an investment piece. Do you think you have gotten your money’s worth out of what you purchased?

  10. I was wondering, if you guys have a grating (not shredding) blade? I would love to grate carrots for salads, but this shredding blade makes them way to thick. Fine blade 834 reviews say make them like a mush. Is there any better blade for that in DLC 8 or DLC 10?

    • They do! I found it on Amazon.

    • What number is it?

    • They do have a fine grating disk, but it’s for things like Parmesan cheese. For carrots for a salad the medium shredding disk that comes with the machine is probably the best option. If you DO still want the fine grating disk for the DLC-10 FP, it is the DLC-835TX-1. The MSRP is US$38.

  11. Wow I didn’t know my food processor could slice POTATOES!! I just used the “S” blade and when other people had a dough blade I was shocked that I had one too. Now I find out that those shiny sharp things can SLICE. OMG I was about to get a hand held slicer. I wish someone would have showed me what the features of the blades did years ago instead of making it too basic. You guys just saved me a lot of time any energy. Thank You : )

  12. I still wouldn’t stick the clear plastic parts in the dishwasher.

  13. I’ve had my Classic for years now and learned things today. I was always grumpy about how I had to lock the feed tube. Oh, I can just use the feed tube lock as the on/off switch. This was an excellent refresher on what my machine can do.

  14. and then how do you get the large feed tube out to cut larger vegetables? Don’t want to break it. Anybody please answer. Thanks

    • Lexy Lynn There’s two long tabs that run down the front of the large pusher that engage the safety lock. That’s how you’re able to leave the machine in the “On” position while refilling the feed tube.
gently push toward the work bowl and the two little tabs will disengage. then you can lift up. If you squeeze too hard, the plastic pusher will “grab” the feed chute and make it difficult to pull them apart.
I just discovered this as I was cleaning it last week!!
notice how the two little tabs push the safety lock down. You’ll wonder how easy it is!

    • see the video at about 10:15 …she flashes the move for just an instant.

    • THANKS DAVE EDDY, I will watch again. I will try again, I have used this when I first bought it a few months ago. It worked great, slicing , shredding etc.

    • This was so hopeful.  Thank you.

I thought the classic was white and model DLC10

    • “Classic” is a series, not a model, and models in the Classic Series come in various sizes and colors. Other series are the Prep, Elite, and Elemental series. The Classic Series now consists of the DLC-8 11-cup models, the DFP-14 14-cup models, and the DLC-XP 20-cup models.

  16. I have the little pro…and I have one heck of a time to get the lid off.

  17. It would’ve been nice to have SOME sort of instructions on how to set it up within the written instructions. But, great video nonetheless. Thanks for doing this!

  18. Got mine as a wedding present in 1985 but never learned how to use it (and I’m not much of a cook anyway), but I just found it in a box and am looking forward to making my own healthy salads and saving money (and keeping produce from just rotting in the refrigerator) doing it. Thank you for your very clear vid!
